California Republic Comic Con, Merced's own comic convention, returned to the Merced County Fairgrounds for its fourth year on September 14th, 2019. 

 

In 2019 the biggest pop culture event in Merced County invited fans to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Land of the Lost TV show with special guest appearances by Kathleen Coleman ("Holly"), Wesley Eure ("Will") and Phillip Paley ("Cha-Ka"). The stars were there to meet fans for autograph session and special photo in the signature yellow raft.   

 

Star Wars fans had a very rare chance to meet the Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila who played Princess Leia in Rogue One. CRCC was Ingvild Deila's first US appearance. 

 

Ms. Deila and The Land of the Lost cast were joined by the famous comedian Eddie Deezen, who has lots of credits to his name including Eugene in Grease, and Christopher Darga known for his voice-over role as the obnoxious Kenny Blankenship, a commentator on Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, as well as his Star Trek roles and numerous appearances on popular TV shows like Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. 

 

Anime and video games lovers met Kira Buckland, who gave her voice to 2B in the hit video game NieR: Automata, as well as many anime including Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Pokemon Generations, while wrestling fans get a chance to learn everything about the GLOW from the 1980's GLOW stars Patricia Summerland known as Sunny the California Girl, and Tracee Meltzer known as Roxy Astor.

 

The show also featured professional artists and creators Chris Marrinan (Nova, Wonder Woman, Doctor Strange), Walden Wong (Deadpool, Black Panther), James Pascoe (Thor, Batman/Punisher, Azrael), Tobe Daranouvong (The Villain Comic, Sumo Geisha), Omar Morales (CruZader, Moon Girl), and Central Valley-grown cosplayers Lucky Bunny, Arlena Fae, Lady Deadpool Fresno, Deadpurple7, Meeper Meeps, and the convention mascot Colossus Girl brought to life by Atom Bomb Body.
